Nature's Artwork - Rokando -

Among the many limestone caves in Japan, Rokando stands out over others because of its mystical dome, one of the largest in Tohoku.
An 880-meter walk through passage, Rokando opens up to greet you with a vast 60 meter high and 50 meter circumference dome that seems out of this world. Adding to the dome's magnificence is "Ama no Iwato no Taki" or " the waterfall of the heavenly cave", also one of the largest in-cave waterfalls in Japan, which spills down 29 meters starting from a crack in the marble and ending with a roaring splash that seems to fill all of your senses with energy.
Enjoy a "mystical world that shines blue" in the heart of the cave.

A “living limestone cave” that continues to grow

Takikan Cave is an ``adventure type limestone cave'' that is a ``living limestone cave'' that continues to grow and is open to the public in an unaltered state as much as possible.
For this reason, there are many parts of the cave that are difficult to walk through. Please be sure to read the precautions before entering the cave.

Courses and Fees

You can enjoy 3 courses increasing in difficulty level! Conquer all three of the courses,
and earn the title of Rokando Meister!

Regular Course (Level-1)

1 person / ¥1,100

Children(ages 6-14) / ¥500 a person
Free for preschoolers

Group discount available :
100 yen discount per person for groups of 15-29.
200 yen discount for groups over 30.

Discount for persons with disabilities :
Half price of the above fee
(disability certificate required).

Reservations are required for group tours.
No reservation is needed for individuals.

Free helmet rental when entering the cave

Adventure Course (Level-2)

1 person / ¥3,000

Children (ages 6-14 years) / ¥2,000 a person
*Reservation required.
7days longer in advance of arrival.

This is an intermediate course for ages 6 and up.

This is a guided tour.

Tour size is limited to a minimum of 2 visitors and a maximum of 6 visitors per group.

Admission fee includes proper caving equipment and insurance.

Exploration Course (Level-3)

1 person / ¥12,000

*Reservation required.
(7days longer in advance of arrival.)

This is an advanced course for ages 12 and up.

This is a guided tour.

Tour size is limited to a minimum of 2 visitors and a maximum of 6 visitors per group.

Admission fee includes proper caving equipment and insurance.

It is most convenient to visit Rokando by car. Only 3 minutes from Rokando IC. Free parking is available, and there is enough space for large buses.
