At Rokando , we offer three courses for everyone to enjoy exploring: “Regular Course'', “Adventure Course'', and “Exploration Course''
- Regular Course (Level-1)

Free for preschoolers - Group discount available :
100 yen discount per person for groups of 15-29.
200 yen discount for groups over 30. - Discount for persons with disabilities :
Half price of the above fee
(disability certificate required). - Reservations are required for group tours.
No reservation is needed for individuals. - Free helmet rental when entering the cave
- Adventure Course (Level-2)

7days longer in advance of arrival. - This is an intermediate course for ages 6 and up.
- This is a guided tour.
- Tour size is limited to a minimum of 2 visitors and a maximum of 6 visitors per group.
- Admission fee includes proper caving equipment and insurance.
- Exploration Course (Level-3)

(7days longer in advance of arrival.) - This is an advanced course for ages 12 and up.
- This is a guided tour.
- Tour size is limited to a minimum of 2 visitors and a maximum of 6 visitors per group.
- Admission fee includes proper caving equipment and insurance.
Regular Course (Level-1) | Please enjoy exploring freely with your family or group, following the cave's guide signs. You can learn more about Takikando Cave by using the "digital guide (QR code)" installed inside the cave. At the very back, you can see a 29m waterfall, and the mysterious space that shines blue will captivate everyone. *This is a course without a guide and reservations are not required, but if you would like a guide, please make a reservation in advance. Please contact us with the desired date and time and the number of participants. The guide fee is 3,000 yen per group (up to 15 people). | Approximate time required 30-50 minutes |
Adventure Course (Level-2) | This course allows you to experience a "mini caving" by exploring a special route with professional guides. You will be able to encounter new discoveries and excitement that you wouldn't on the regular course. Use your whole body to maneuver your way through tight spaces, climb rocks, and enjoy the adventure! (Safety equipment: helmet, headlamp, work gloves, knee and elbow pads) | Approximate time required 60-70 minutes |
Exploration Course (Level-3) | This course allows you to experience a "mini caving" by exploring a special route with professional guides. You will be able to encounter new discoveries and excitement that you wouldn't on the regular course. Use your whole body to maneuver your way through tight spaces, climb rocks, and enjoy the adventure! (Safety equipment: helmet, headlamp, work gloves, knee and elbow pads) | Approximate time required 70-90 minutes |
Make original branded achievement boards | boardsBranded achievement boards using wood from Sumita town will show what courses you have conquered one through three. Once you have all three branded boards, you will be a true Rokando Master and you can receive benefits such as gifts and discounts as proof of a real Rokando Meister! Why not make a branded board as a memory of Rokando and aim for a higher level! | *You can apply at the time of your visit, please ask the receptionist. |
For your safe caving experience
・As you will pass through narrow and dark spaces, please refrain from participating if you are not comfortable with dark or closed spaces.
・To climb safely with ropes, there is a weight limit (up to 100kg)
・In the exploration course, you will be asked to change into clothing for caving. When applying, please let us know the size of your boots and coveralls.
We also have separate changing rooms for men and women.
8 basic rules at Rokando
Please read the following precautions in advance so that everyone can enjoy the limestone cave safely from beginning to end. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
No Strollers/ wheelchairs allowed The inside of the cave has been kept as unchanged as possible, so there are many places that are narrow and slippery
Destruction or removal of stones, minerals, and structures inside the limestone cave is prohibited.Please understand the importance of preserving the environment of limestone caves, which took an incredibly long time to be created.
No pets allowed.In order to protect the ecosystem within the cave, pets are not allowed inside the cave. (We also do not allow pets to be left in any of our facilities.)
Refrain from throwing coins into the cave's waterways, underground lakes, around Statue of saint Kannon, etc. Throwing coins or other materials is strongly prohibited as it affects water quality, ecosystem and landscape in the cave.
Eating and smoking are prohibited inside the cave.It may cause destruction of stalactites and deterioration of the cave environment. Please use the restaurant and smoking area outside the cave.
Drinking alcohol in the cave or entering the cave while intoxicated is prohibited. There are many areas with poor footing, making it dangerous if you are intoxicated. Any behavior that may cause inconvenience to other visitors is also strictly prohibited.
Entry into the cave may be restricted for safety reasons. The cave is narrow and has some dangerous areas, we may limit the number of people entering the cave during busy seasons such as summer vacation and long holidays.
No toilets inside the cave. The length of the cave is 880m, and the footing is very slippery. Please use the restroom before entering the cave.
