The annual, heated battle of midsummer!!

We will be holding the Waterfall-Style Soba Eating Contest again this year.

This is an announcement regarding the recruitment of participants.

Waterfall-Style Soba Eating Contest Participation Guidelines

1. Event Overview

Date and Time: August 1, 2026 (Saturday), 10:30 AM onwards (Participant registration from 9:00 AM)

Venue: Soba Terrace, 2nd Floor, Takikando Tourist Center

(Address: 298-81 Tsuchikura, Kami-Arizumi, Sumita-cho, Kesen-gun, Iwate Prefecture)

Organizer: Sumida Tourism Development Co., Ltd.

2. Participation Categories and Conditions

*You may be asked to show identification at the reception.

3. Competition Contents
   The competition will see how many people can eat Takikando's specialty "Waterfall Soba" within the 15-minute time limit.
   The winner is decided by pouring soy sauce into the soy sauce dispenser for each serving (in the case of a tie, the remaining amount is measured and the winner is decided).
4. Precautions

Adults Section

• Please take responsibility for your own health and any allergies you may have.
• Participation after consuming alcohol is prohibited.
• Please consent to the use of footage for filming, interviews, and our social media.

Children's Section

• Parental supervision is required.
• We value the joy of eating and prohibit unreasonable competition.
• Please refrain from participating if you have any allergies or pre-existing conditions.
• Please consent to the use of footage for filming, interviews, and our social media.

5. Number of people recruiting
   First 10 people in each adult and children's category (advance registration required)
6. Participation fee (will be collected on the day)

• Adults: 1,000 yen
• Children's section: 500 yen
• Spectators: Free (supporters are welcome!)

7. Award
   In each category: Winners will receive a commemorative plaque and prizes.
8. How to apply

• Please apply through the inquiry form on the Rokando Cave website. Applications will not be accepted over the phone.
