A statue of St. Kannon quietly watches over the cave.
This Kannon statue was erected in 1970 to pray for safety inside the cave.
Surrounded by steep marble, the rock behind the statue looks like the trunk of a Sara Soju (sal tree), creating an atmosphere that can truly be called heavenly.
The statue of Kannon is said to have been built by five people who carried the parts into the cave, which had not yet been maintained at the time, and assembled inside the cave.
Kannon will watch over you until you leave the cave, so please quietly close your eyes and join your hands in prayer or give a nod of respect.
